Understanding and Responding to Family and Domestic Violence

This course focuses on developing the skills needed to understand and effectively respond to family and domestic violence. Participants will learn how to provide support and intervention, including making safety plans for individuals affected by domestic and family violence and offering counselling to those impacted. The course also covers strategies for working with individuals who use violence, aiming to encourage change and promote safer outcomes. This course is ideal for professionals in community services who are looking to enhance their ability to support individuals affected by family and domestic violence and foster positive change.

The course will consist of 2 workshops, each with a duration of 4 hours.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this course, you must be currently employed in the community services sector with relevant work experience.
Course Information

Delivery Mode: Live sessions, available either in person or via Zoom. On-site facilitation at a workplace can be arranged upon request.

Minimum Participants: A minimum of 20 participants is required for the course to proceed.

Assessments: Participants will be required to complete theory and scenario-based assessments, to be submitted within 4 weeks of workshop completion.

Certification: A Statement of Attainment will be issued upon submission and satisfactory assessment results.

Facilitator
The course will be facilitated by our Course Coordinator, Rebecca O’Sullivan (BPsych, GradDipFDRP, GradDipMgmt, DipYouthWk, DipCouns, CertIVTAE, Cert III IS), who brings extensive expertise and experience in the field.
